LOL... I guess I wasn't descriptive enough.
Basically, ideas. designs for... anything. Creativity, I suppose.

I can help people make simple layouts using Paint Shop Pro 7 or higher.

Excellent! Me, I'll stick with frontpage and my limited-yet-reasonably-useful knowledge of HTML. I'd like to learn Java though; it's apparently able to do many, many things. Actually, I found tis program called "toon talk" that not only speeks, but uses various activities and crud to teach Java to anyone. Parents wouldn't let me download it though... And seriously, Gotenks has the layout thing down. If you don't believe, just look at his site.

LOL. The layout currently up was made using Frontpage. The Paint Shop ones are much better. The only problem is that you need to know CSS for the layout to work correctly. >.<. Luckily my friend is doing all the CSSing for me.

Heh, that's convenient. Meh, I have to take a computer course next year, maybe I'll look into it...
The thing I like about frontpage is, for the most part, it's rather easy to work with (Though, like everything, it can be stubborn), and if you know what you're doing it can be very powerful. I have no experience with paintshop, So I can't comment on it. It must be good though.

Paintshop isn't really hard to understand. It's almost exactly like Photoshop.

Web designs, i find, are a lot easier to do when they're pre made.... That way if you have limited html knowledge, they're easier to handle.... like my site!! ;D

LOL. Yes they are. But...I don't always find the premade layout I'm looking for.

It all depends on what you need. If you can find a premade layout that fits your site, then premades work best for you, but if they aren't designed the way you'd like, then... get out the crayons and papier miche

Hmm... Yes, the site does need a better look. However... it occurred to me... how exactly do layouts differ? (Meep! I know the general idea... i mean... yeesh. When all you have is text and images, what exactly is there to it? Grr... I'm hoping you catch my meaning.) >.<
What I originally had planned for the main page was something where I had like a map or something, like of the galaxy(ies) and different crud that led to different places... but For one thing, I already put the planets in with the picture, and there is also the thing about not really having much to use that design with.
And here's another thing... I got a domain back at the beginning of the year, as a few posts may... suggest... but whenever I uploaded anything, I couldn't find it! And to top that off, it said they had frontpage extensions, but this is not true! I had my submission form up there and it wouldn't work! (And this was just with my view links in my control panel. I could not find any of the pages!) If I can get a domain that lets me actually save my files to the fricken main directory rather than some subfolder that I can't find, then I use.
... and Geocities doesn't like layouts. The links were supposed to be along side the bulk of the picture and everything else was just supposed to go under that. Meh.

have you ever tried to make a webpage using Mword?? if you wanted the links to go down the side then you would have used different text boxes...

I've done some with word, but I find it bothersome when I can't make the necessary HTML adjustments (Or change colors appropriately...). Text boxes could work, I suppose, but why not just use alignment for that? Or are you saying like to have them on that side but aligned with one another?

have them aligned together.... that way it looks "professional". ;D

LOL. Text boxes and I tend to agree better in powerpoint, but I'm not really certain of how powerpoint files function as HTML documents... >.< I could do a lot with powerpoint if I could get it to end up right between the first file and the web. The thing I like about using word though; you can use fill affects with bbackgrounds instead of being limited to one color or picture. (There's probably a way to do that in frontpage, but I haven't found it and it's much easier in word.) Also, I find tables murder to work with in Frontpage. And I like tables now for some reason... The design I had in mind for a Planet Seva site: The background could be a sort of galaxy map (Maybe a portion of the cluster or something... for sake of things), maybe arranged to look kind of spherical so that... Oh, you'll see. We'd have the smaller distant stuff on the top and bottom, you know, with the closer, more focused stuff in the middle. That way, text can go on the top and bottom of the page, but in the middle we can have an unofficial version of a galaxy map in focus so that we have planets and objects and stuff to click on that take you different places. It could also work with some nice transition effects... Then on the pages that follow, we'll have some primary information for that page, but we'll have it set up similarly--the images will be arranged realistically and yet in perspective so that we can focus on a specific portion where we can have graphical links from that place to take us to other pages (many of which will appear on other level2 pages). I've made it sound more complex than intended... poo. It's supposed to be cool. It's not just a web site; It's an adventure! ^_^. And we could have a ship or something, maybe a picutre of the Milky Way or something to get to other stuff, such as other Jeqo stuff and offiliats. With the proper images and set up, it could be awesome. But I'd rather have my own domain to do that with... and goodness knows it's a challenge to find the best deal on those. I had one at www.jeqo.com, but I couldn't get it to work. If I can get a domain and upload things to the main directory before anything happens (Which, knowing my publisher, will be easy), it'll make everything work out much more easily. ... but I digress... and self-centeredly at that...

you can still have a picture background and make it all cool and stuff but you have to have proper software... such as, Adobe photoshop (which I have) I think its all in the skills and knowledge....

Yes... yes... I'm not sure ow to get the frames to work right though. I think I know how to insert them though... Hmm...
Skills, knowledge, and how much the program relies on the mouse and non-standard text buttons. -_-

O.K. The contents-header-footer frame templet there on Frontpage, where does it place the contents frame? come to think of it... how do you determine where a frame appears?

I have no idea. I don't think I've ever used Header/Footers before. (Don't know how to use them, that I don't.)

All I was talking about was frames. As far as headers and footers... you just got to go to edit them and do whatever. (And proboards allows HTML in theirs)
