Yes... it's much better to get a free service that gives you trouble rather than having to pay for additional pain...
... I started a PS game in powerpoint yesterday... and I'm almost done already! In fact... there's only one real challenge left, then a few wrapup things. Although the graphics are kind of... poo..., it's still turning out to be rather cool.. Just a little while ago I found all my transitions changed by some mysterious use of the apply to all button! I can't say I've felt fury in that way before... considering that half way through correcting them, it refused to give me a sound I wanted and froze, erasing my corrections! But it's fixed now, and if I can stay interested I'll probably have it done by dawn tomorrow. ANd then.. uh... Then I'll do something...

I don't think I can segment it. Unfortunately, I can't attach anything over 3 MB to E-mail, and Yahoo won't accept attachments over 5 (Or was it the other way around?). I was able to send it to Rave over MSN, however. If I can get winzip, then it just might work... but as of now I don't have it. - I hope to get it up on the site once I get a domain, but meh...

Sounds interesting, I know how to make iframes or whatever. The only thing I don't know how to do is code the layout using CSS. >.>

I tried to teachmyself how to do frames the other day..... meh... not my best moment...

I've tried using the coding that frontpage uses to do frames, but I've only managed to get a frame to appear, minus anything that would make it useful... - and for some reason, the game causes Rave's computer to shutdown. She seems to think the file is corrupted, but if you ask me, it's probably a combination of her computer's speed, space, and programming with the size of the file... (7578KB). . It still runs fine on my computer, and, although I have an outdated and small computer, most of the media files are midis, thus allowing me to have hundreds of files and not lose a breath of speed. ... but for everyone else, I could use win zip.

Well, I sent her a PPT version of the upper portions of my homepage as outlined in the design thingy I sent everyone (Well, everyone with a custom title anyway). I forgetted to make the background agree with the text... but heh. When I go to view it as a web page, I can't find the "Map" or the panel on the right... The control bar appears though... I actually tried it with an in-lined Rectangle behind the map, but that didn't make much of a difference... . Anyways, the file should be an indicator of what the problem might be with the game on her computer... but still, there's a massive size difference, so nyah.

LOL. I have about 65 GBs of space free on my computer, so I doubt it would freeze my computer.

Exclamation point! I want 65 Gigs of free space on my computer! *- anywies, if you're interested, just tell me on MSN, I guess... As I've said, that's the only medium I've found that will handle it (7578KB).

Yes... Hmmm... - you know, if it's saved as a web page, you should be allowed to edit the html... but then again, after what I saw in the source code... I'm not sure that bothers me very much.

I believe I sent you an e-mail concerning your website's layout that you sent me...

Post by cajones on Aug 22, 2004 2:57:09 GMT -5
Yes, yes you did. I can't figure out why the background does that though; it's not a background on the slide but is actually one I made and grouped and pasted behind everything... and it's sized to fit, so I don't see why it isn't... meh. I haven't had access to it for two weeks either, so nyah. I'll try to find somebody at school to help... but there is that little problem of me not finding anyone that knows what I'm talking about concerning anything... I mean really... how hard is it to find out the conditions necessary for an oxygen glucose reaction? I just want to put it in a wrist band! ANd then maybe a photosynthesizer to make it so I don't have to refuel... ^_^... ... why are you looking at me like that? Another thing that I've thought about with my lack of anything to do in the early hours of the morning is concerning my PPT games. I know what the differences are when you convert the file into HTML, and despite how restrictive this is, I think I could still pull something off with an hTML file. But why bother? Well, I was thinking of multi-player games. So... does anyone know if you can set a variable to display a picture? If the characters have the same types of abilities, and variables can be used to change pictures, character selection would be much easier and not take up nearly as much space. And we can always use invisible autoshapes to adjust pics for height. ... And I have yet to find anyone who cna tell me anything about this... So I guess I'll consult frontpage. Click here!

Hmm.....umm...let's see... I'm not too good at making layouts using Powerpoint.

I like doing the layouts with powerpoint because instead of having to stumble around getting text and graphics positioned (And working with images the way I want), I can just tab to what I want and do stuff to it. Granted I can't edit the HTML, but just about everything I use it for is customizable anyway and I can always copy the source code if I need to make HTML adjustments. There's something I've discovered; the 97 office programs make the source code simple; the kind of stuff I've written entirely in HTML, while 2000 makes it as complex as possible. I guess to discourage code theft or some hing like that...
The thing that I have found to be a bit annoying though is I have little control over the color of links in Powerpoint. This would be fine, but the word "help" isn't supposed to be on the panels; it's jsut there so synth will find the bloody thing. I guess I'll look into it... there are still a couple pages I haven't done for the new site, primarily the planets (I need the right pictures! I think I'll try my luck with clipart, unless anyone thinks they can get stuff to look right. Yeesh, Jeqo has a huge space for artists).
Meeep... oopse...
Feh, I guess it has something to do with the fact that I can only have frontpage at home and in the library, but not in my convenient hours (Stupid laptop!)

Yay! You're the first person that has said that they've understood something I've said since... that Comment about Parents that I made at banditthedrow! ^_^. You are to be commended! O.K, I've stumbled across some useful powers in HTML, so I think that if I combine my HTML and PPT abilities, I can drastically inprove the overall quality of my Games! But there are a few things left to worry with: 1: When copying the HTML of a PPT presentation saved as a webpage, does it still look right when in Frontpage? 2: Can I use *any* typing key as an accesskey? (And while we're at it, is that restricted to certain browsers?) 3: What about music! How would it play for the entire scene? Meh, there are ways to get it to work, I suppose. 4: File size. Is it worth it? (As big as these files can get, I'd hope so. ) 5: Here's a lifesaver if it works. Some sort of counter that I can put on every page in an HTML site so that it changes everytime you view certain pages, and once it reaches a certain number, it redirects to a different page (For stats and things like Health). This would be perfect, because I could create many things with repetitious scenes (Like fighting games) with less than a hundred slides! Sure my (Rather cool actually) Spiderman one was only about 70 something, but it only gave one character and limited control (I still like some things about it... particularly the smithe Fight! I'll bet that Smithe's facing the wrong directin the entire time too. ^_^) Ah.. hehehe... Heh, I'd probably end up having to burn these to CD after a while of getting several, only hosting them on the internet as really compressed files. O.O, now I'm rambling off on a topic that probably nobody else cares about...

It's a reasonable assumption that if I had the necessary pictures, I would probably have tried everything... O.O, I actually had (rather nice, though lacking some things) pics of EC characters before my computer crashed... (O.O, that was about three years ago now. Hehehe...) I actually tried to make sort of a demo, but it... wasn't that great. It was nice to watch my guys blasting each other without moving their arms though. ^_^. And I had a nice "Gameover, high score" screen. Meh, maybe it was just the background... ... ... But I'm doing that thing where I just talk about my self again...

I found out you can write HTML in notepad and save it as an html document and it'll work. -_-, not the same as frontpage, but if you're good enough then it really doesn't matter...

Heh. I don't use Notepad much for html because you have to save it, then open it again to preview it, then you have to do the save as thing again to save any changes afterthat. Eek! I was supposed to send you and Wolfstar the RPG document... ... ... Oh, and I've come to the conclusion that my site could use a makeOver. ^_^. Meh, I'd rather stick with the designs I've sent everyone (Which if you didn't know by now, I put online here), just make everything look nice, I suppose. O.O, My time's almost up and I've only gotten to two topics! . Ah! And don't let me forget to send myself that IY recording so I can use it nextweek! (As if anyone will read tihs by then. Hahaha.)
