Yes. The japanese don't seem to understand the concept of homophones. And apparently after living in Japan with the japanese language for a while one will stop noticing the homophoneness in Japanese sounds? Like... yomu=to read, and yobu=to call... the past tense of both of these is yonda. When we were going over that in class, and people were pointing out that they sounded the same, the teacher was confused for a while (and I think he's from around here, but spent a lot of time in Japan and I should ask him to teach me more martial arts...).

Teacher knows martial arts. Teacher is American and spent much time in Japan working with Martial Arts instructor(s) of intensive kind... I think...
